According to the Bhagavata Purana and Ramayana Dhanwanthari appear with a pot of Amrita (elixir) of Immortality during the churning of the ocean.The Devas and asuras churned ocean(palazhi) using the serpent Vasuki as a rope and Mount Mandara as a pole. Dhanwanthari is considered to be the originator of Ayurveda and he is considered as an avatar (incarnation) of Lord Vishnu.He is said to have spread the teachings of Ayurveda to the humans and considered as God of Ayurveda.
Lord Dhanwanthari Ayurveda trust is a registered Charitable Trust which aims to spread and propagate the concepts of Dhanwanthari with its material, spiritual and practical approach and being the God of Ayurveda to propagate the messages of Ayurveda principles in the society along with the support of Dhanwanthari Ayurveda Bhavan planned to build a 24 feet height Dhanwanthari statue in the hospital premises.
The 24 feet of the Dhanwanthari statue represents the 24 principles of the universe which are Avyakta, Mahat,Ahankara, Panchatanmatra, Panchabhoota, Jnana- Karma indriyas and Manas (CHATHURVIMSATI TATWAS) the 24 principles that underpin the body as described in Ayurveda and Samkhya Shastra. Also our body's basic units both Sukshma sharira and Sthoola Sarira are 24 in number. The four hands of Dhanwanthari holds Shankha which denotes shabda( sound ), Chakra which denotes Karma (work), Amrita Kumbha which denotes medicine and Jalouka (leech) which helps to draw evil things from our body.
The work started in January 2024 and completed by 6 months.Biju Elavally from Thrissur is the great artist behind the statue. The statue was inaugurated after ANTHAREEKSHA SUDHEEKARANAM (12 days Dhanwanthari homam) followed by PAVITHREEKARANAM in which 24 ayurvedacharyas from all over India poured water from 24 Holy rivers like Ganga, Yamuna, Brahma Putra, Godavari etc on the statue on November 10th 2024.
In our garden to show the unity in diversity through Ayurveda, a map of India was prepared by Ayurveda doctors all over India with the soil collected from respective states on November 10 th 2024.
In an area of one acre we have a beautiful herbal garden which contains rare drugs like Somalatha, Sami and also Nakshatra vana and Rasi vana. The medicinal significance of plants and climbers growing in gardens has been brought to the attention of the general public through a program called ‘Thodiyile Chedi, 'initiated by Dhanwanthari Ayurveda Bhavan in collaboration with CCTV, Kunnamkulam. This comprehensive program was led by our esteemed Guru,Dr.C.M.Sreekrishnan. Featuring over 365 medicinal plants, this wonderful program has significantly contributed to enhancing health awareness within the community.As a tribute to the program's remarkable success, this enchanting garden has proudly been designated as ”Thodiyile Chedi”.
