This unity is the union of the individual self and the Universal Self. It also means the harmonious union of the mind, body and spirit. Yoga aims at bringing the different bodily functions into perfect coordination.

The practice of asana integrates and harmonises the body and mind. Its aim is to release the tension of body and mind, acting through the body to the mind. Regular practice of yogasana maintains the physical body in an optimal condition and promotes health even in an unhealthy body.
